About Simona

Art has been a natural part of Simona Vojtěšková’s life for as long as she can remember. After graduating in Political Science from Masaryk University in 2012, she spent several years working in the creative fields of marketing and public relations. She began to devote herself more seriously to visual art alongside her husband, architect Jiří Vojtěšek, and together they created minimalist concrete artworks under the Litone brand. Over time, her focus gradually shifted toward watercolor and acrylic painting, which are now her primary mediums.

She is deeply inspired by the colors of nature and their unexpected combinations. When she paints, she allows herself to be absorbed by chaos, searching for meaning within it. Although she usually approaches the canvas with an initial idea, she opens herself fully to the process and avoids setting strict limits. She works quickly and intuitively, following the flow of her thoughts and emotions. As the painting develops, her pace naturally slows and she begins to consider the final layers more carefully. For her, the process itself is more satisfying than the result. A painting is finished in the moment she feels an inner sense of completion.

At any given time, she works on only one painting. It becomes an object she thinks about during the day and dreams about at night. She does not like to jump between different rhythms or works; she needs to bring one piece to a close before beginning another. Even so, her paintings are closely connected. In each new work, fragments of what interested her in the previous one appear alongside something new that emerged during the process.

A significant part of her work has been created during the years when her two children are still very young. They are often present in the studio and naturally become part of the creative process. Her artistic practice is deeply intertwined with everyday family life — creation influences her, and she hopes, in a positive way, that it also influences them.

Her paintings feature a wide range of organic shapes, layered surfaces, repeating patterns, and a strong presence of pink. Alongside childlike references such as ladybugs and dots, there are also darker, more mysterious areas. She enjoys experimenting with color combinations, imagined plant forms, details, and abstract landscapes. On closer inspection, intentionally “forgotten” areas can be found — places where something was started and deliberately left unfinished.

In addition to painting, Simona also creates wool tapestries using a hand-tufting technique. Working with a tufting gun, she translates selected floral motifs and visual elements from her paintings into a tactile, textile form.

Her artworks are part of private collections in the Czech Republic and around the world. She values honesty both toward herself and toward collectors, which is why the prices of her works are always public. She hopes visitors may find an original piece here that resonates with them.

Simona works in her own studio in Velké Pavlovice, in the Czech Republic, where she lives with her husband and their two children. Personal viewings of the artworks can be arranged upon request.

On May 23, 2025, she and her husband opened SENO atelier in Velké Pavlovice — an exhibition space where her paintings are permanently on view, alongside occasional exhibitions by other artists.
